Roger chose a different electric motor and controller than that specified in the Berkeley Candu-ez plan set. His minitug version uses an electric motor and controller that he purchased from KTA Services Inc., 944 West 21st Street, Upland CA 91784. (909) 949-7914. The company specializes in equipment for the electric cars. The motor is an Advanced DC #A89-4001 series wound DC motor, 6HP/36-72VDC and the controller is a Curtis-PMC #1205-201 motor controller rated for 36-48VDC input and capable of 350 amp output for 2minutes, 250 amp output for 5 minutes, 150 amp output for 1 hour. He tells us that the cost was less and the power and efficiency better than the motor specified in the Berkeley plan set. For power he uses eight, six volt, 70 pound, USbattery-125's each rated at 230 amp hours at 20 hour rate method, or 145 minute capacity at the 75 amp discharge rate method.
